Fighters' Practice Ashley Pond |
Saturdays 2:00PM to 4:00PM |
The shire of Bryngolau hosts a weekly fighters practise where individual and group combat is practiced and informal instruction takes place. SCA combat is a combat discipline developed by the Society for Creative Anachronism in which participants in body armor act out a form of historical combat practiced in medieval Europe while maintaining a safe environment for both participants and spectators. It is variously considered a combat sport, contact sport, or a form of martial arts. There is no general formal style within heavy combat, and individuals may fight whatever style and type of weapon that are permissible within the rules. We meet at the South East corner of the Pond along Trinity Dr. During cold, snowy weather we meet at the Dog Obedience Club building on East Trinity Dr. |

The shire of Bryngolau hosts a monthly arts and sciences meeting, which is typically coupled with a class or lecture on a topic of period arts or sciences. Members of the Shire of Bryngolau practice many arts, sciences, and past times of the Middle Ages and Renaissance, both to broaden their knowledge, and to enhance the atmosphere at Society events. They do this through research, study, and practice, and then share their results with others. |
